Sarah Bevan Family Lawyers, Australia
Sarah Bevan has practised exclusively in family law since the commencement of her career nearly 20 years ago and is widely recognised for her depth of expertise in this field. She has been an Accredited Specialist in Family Law through the Law Society of New South Wales since 2005 and is also an accredited arbitrator. Sarah regularly presents legal education papers to the legal profession and is appointed to the panel of lawyers who act as Independent Child’s Lawyer in proceedings under the Family Law Act.
Through her firm, Sarah Bevan Family Lawyers, she is regarded as a leading expert in surrogacy law. She has supported many Australian and international intended parents and surrogates, providing clear and compassionate legal guidance through complex arrangements. Sarah led the legal team responsible for the landmark New South Wales decision that allowed the first same-sex couple to be registered as parents on their child’s birth certificate following a surrogacy arrangement, a case that helped shape legal recognition for LGBTQ+ families in Australia.
Sarah is also a member of Growing Families’ Verification Criteria review committee, contributing her legal expertise to the ongoing review and strengthening of the standards used to assess surrogacy agencies and providers internationally.
