Hybrid Surrogacy Programs (Click to Download)
Surrogacy can be an expensive process. And for gay couples the options can be limited, with only US, Canada and Russia providing birth certificates and legal recognition to a single male. Yet for those with a more limited budget, there remain viable options. This is because IVF & embryology costs vary significantly by country. Hybrid programs, where a surrogate is one country, yet the embryos are made in another country, are increasingly common. Australian embryos shipped to Georgia, Indian embryos shipped to the US and more recently Russia are examples. This session discusses how such programs can work from a legal and logistical viewpoint and the type of costs involved.
