Lucas & Taryn first started surrogacy in Ukraine, but when war broke out in February 2022, they had their embryos transported to Slovakia and then Greece. Their child was born in August 2023 in Chania, amidst the closure of their clinic and arrests of most of its agency staff. Growing Families assisted them in the delicate negotiations to allow safe return to Australia. They have been trying for a second child in Argentina, but the current uncertainty about the future of surrogacy there is pushing them elsewhere. Lucas will talk about reaching out for help when things go wrong.
